Separating User Profiles by OS

Important Note: XP machines must have the XP update (Group Policy preferences client side Extensions for windows XP – KB943729) in order for this to work.Steps:
Create additional folders and set security access for user profiles in the server where the profiles will be residing

Create a share for each profile folder where the last characters is the OS

Create OU for PC’s in AD (all managed PC’s must be placed in the respective OU)

Setting the Environment Variable to the Win7Clients, Win8clients, and WinXPClients GPORight click on the win7GPO and select Edit

Navigate to Environment on the computer configuration

Right click on Environment, and then click on NEW and select Environment. Add the following values to each Group Policy and Apply:
Windos XP Windows 7 Windows 8
1.Action: Create
2.System Variable
3.Name: OSVer
4.Value: WinXP 
1.Action: Create
2.System Variable
3.Name: OSVer
4.Value: Win7
1.Action: Create
2.System Variable
3.Name: OSVer
4.Value: Win8

Change the Profile Path of the USERS to:
\\SERVER\Profiles%OSVer%$\%username%

when the user logs on depending on the Operating System the path will be as follows:
Windows XP \\SERVER\ProfilesWinXP$\Test1
Windows 7 \\SERVER\ProfilesWin7$\test1
Windows 8 \\SERVER\Profileswin8$\test1
Profiles for windows 7,  windows 8 and windows xp are now in a different folders
